Mr. Bongo Pop-Up Shop at Rappcats

This one is for the crate diggers and hip-hop heads out there.

Legendary record collector, Mr. Bongo, is hosting a special sale of his personal vinyl catalog at Rappcats record store. 

Dave ‘Mr. Bongo’ Buttle began digging for records in Venezuela 30 years ago. Filling up suitcases with amazing Latin records to bring back to Europe. He has continued ever since. From warehouses in the US to dusty back street shops in South America, houses and garages in Africa, and lesser-known spots in Europe and Asia.

Whether you’re looking for a rare record to add to your collection, or just want to browse while vibing to good music, this is the spot for you.

Cha Cha Burlesque Show and Holiday Fundraiser

Join in with the good folks at The Offbeat bar for one of the last huge parties of the year!

The Cha-Cha Burlesque Extravaganza is a special party for all those who love to let it all hang out. 

As it is the season of giving, the show is partnering with Jovenes Inc. to collect and provide goods for homeless children. A list of needed items can be found here.

There’s no cover charge  the entire night, and drinks specials will start at 10 pm and until closing.

Ganja Yoga: A Cannabis-infused Yoga Ritual

Opening Ceremony: Dia De Guadalupe Exhibition

This special exhibit coming to Avenue 50 Studion will showcase artists who interpret the meaning of the Virgin Mary on themselves, and their culture as a whole.

The Virgen de Guadalupe is a powerful symbol of Mexican identity and faith. Her image is associated with everything from motherhood to feminism to social justice. “She is used as a symbol of justice because she holds an appeal to the poor, to marginalized people. In the modern day, we can see her as representing people standing against oppression, declaring their independence.” –John Moran Gonzalez, director of the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin

The Gaslamp Killer Presents: Airplane Mode

Renowned DJ and producer, The Gaslamp Killer, brings another installment of Highland Park’s premier beat scene showcase Airplane Mode to the Hi-Hat.

This time around, Skinny Pablo (Ras Dude), Joey Tapes, Roam, and Linda Nuves will be joining The Gaslamp Killer to bless the stage and your ears all night long.

Leaving Records 10 Year Anniversary Party

Los Angeles-based label Leaving Records is celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a party at the Lodge Room in Highland Park. 

Hosted by musician and label owner Matthewdavid, the line-up for this event is phenomenal. With the likes of Devonwho, Dakim, Keifer, and Ahnnu gracing the stage, this is surely one show you dont want to miss.
