On busy Figueroa St., the Kitchen Mouse is hard to miss with it’s large windows, open door and decorative plants outside. Just looking at it reminds you of home! Walking in, this place immediately gives off a very warm vibe. They have good sized tables that are absolutely perfect for two, and larger tables right next to the windows that are perfect for a family or a group of friends.
The walls are painted white and give the place a crisp, clean look. And right away, I fell in love with the mason jars on the tables that were full of fresh flowers. How cute, right?! It’s simple and perfect. In addition to the decorative lavender, they have a gorgeous hutch with tons of cute cookbooks, cups and coffee, but my favorite things were the cute decorative woven artworks on the wall.
Ordering was easy. They had the friendliest woman working the register(wish I got her name) who had plenty of great suggestions. My sister and I ordered two cups of their Stumptown pour over coffee and a plate of their vegan, gluten-free pancakes. And let me tell you, these were the best pancakes ever. You get three pancakes covered in blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, toasted coconut and whipped cream(optional)… TO DIE FOR. These pancakes were too perfect and they taste even better knowing that they’re vegan and gluten-free!
After eating, we had some great conversations with Lindsay and Brandi, two girls that work there. Honestly, they seemed like they really enjoyed working there. Lindsay joked with us and we all enjoyed a good laugh, and Brandi talked to us and even offered us some of their cookies! We tried the peanut butter and jelly cookie, the pine nut cookie, chocolate chip cookie and their mini banana muffins. They were all so soft and chewy and FAR from dry, just the way I like it!
