Topo By Kitchen Mouse Is Your Go-To Spot For Grab-And-Go

This New Addition To The Highland Park Food Scene Offers Quick Grab Sandwiches, Sweets, Gifts and Party Favors

Highland Park is quickly becoming a hotbed of trendy restaurants, quaint cafes, and all-around great dining. Yet there was still a void to be filled, a niche not yet taken advantage of. Enter Topo, a grab-and-go style deli and shop opened and curated by the same people who brought the neighborhood Kitchen Mouse.

While Kitchen Mouse is known as having a predominantly veggie and vegan friendly menu, Topo take this a step further by exclusively offering vegan fare.

With the literal translation of the word being “mouse,” Topo carries a wide range of products in the store, and will soon be taking catering orders in 2018. You can find anything from pastries, breads and baked goods; to house-made sandwiches, sides and salads. Branching out from strictly offering food, the shop also has stationary products, gifts, cards, snack, and many interesting knick-knacks for your home or office.

The pastry case at Topo is diverse. Some of the treats are made in-house, while some are made by local vendors. Cupcakes, muffins, cookies and bite-size confections make up the majority of sweets available. The blueberry streusel or oatmeal crumble are standouts in the muffin category. Strawberry or chocolate cupcakes rarely prove to be a bad decision. If a traditional style cookie is more your fashion, then the salty chocolate chip or chocolate chocolate chip are the way to go. The lemon poppyseed bite, and orange and olive oil shortbread are great selections if you like thinking outside the box when it comes to pastries.

There are four made-to-order sandwiches offered at Topo, each with a distinctive flavors. First, a fresh take on a famous Vietnamese classic. The walnut pate Banh Mi encapsulates everything you want in a sandwich of its kind; It’s spicy, sweet, sour, crunchy, and most of all it’s delicious. The smoked avocado sandwich is served on prairie bread, with fresh sprouts, tomato and dijon. It’s refreshing, yet robust and filling. Other options include a smoky grilled portobello mushroom and cheese sandwich on warm focaccia bread, and a vegan burrata cheese caprese.

A rotating selection of house made or prepared pastas, salads and cheeses are available in refrigerators. They’re packaged in to-go containers ready to heated up or enjoyed cold at home or work.

There’s a large selection of cards for all occasions available, along with gifts for children and adults alike. Plenty of party favors are also on hand, making Topo a potential one stop shop for all your party needs.

Topo by Kitchen Mouse is located at 5906 N Figueroa St in Highland Park. It’s open everyday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
