Step through the patio in the back of Cafe Birdie and you’ll find a small brick building, squat in stature but glowing with promise. The candlelit room flickers with possibility, as low booths run along the far wall and a marble bar runs through much of the rest of the room. This is lower, more intimate drinking venue than the front bar at Cafe Birdie, but comes with much the same tone and casual European bistro vibe.
You’ll also find a wholly different drink menu out back at Good Housekeeping, thanks to Nicholas Krok, Ryan Duffy, and Jeremy Simpson of bar team Spirit Animal (they’re the ones behind Courage & Craft too). The plan is to keep things pared down substantially, working a slate of classic cocktails done with quality ingredients. There are small twists here and there — think charcoal-filtered Manhattans — but mostly this is a place for your next favorite daiquiri or negroni.
Good Housekeeping soft opens this weekend, keeping evening hours only. Moving forward, regular hours will be Sunday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with an extension to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
