The weather’s been keeping everyone indoors lately, which normally is fine – it gives us time to binge our new favorite series. But if you have kids, you’ve probably reached cabin fever level 500. And even though there’s lots of places that claim to be kid-friendly, most of the time that just means they have a few booster seats available and maybe some crayons.

If you’re looking for a place to bring the kids, then look no further than the Arroyo Seco Regional Library. Yes, the public library. You know, the place that has books and stuff. In case you haven’t heard, public libraries still exist, and actually, they’re really great for families!  Arroyo Seco Public Library

The Arroyo Seco Regional Library has more than just books. They also have a selection of magazines, CDs, DVDs and more. But besides their collection of reading, viewing, and listening materials, they have tons of social and educational programs and events for people of all ages – so while you get your reading and learning on, your kids can take part in fun learning activities too.   Arroyo Seco Public Library

Every Monday, the library hosts Make It Monday for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade. This is a fun, hands-on event with a different theme each Monday. The kids can enjoy getting creative with arts and crafts, story telling, and other performances and presentations.

Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are STAR Reader days for kids as young as pre-school. They’ll experience story telling and reading with puppets and music. If you’ve got really little ones, the library also hosts a separate story time for babies and toddlers (and caregivers) with songs, rhymes, and playtime. Check their calendar for their detailed schedule.

Starting in March, the library will do exercise days on Tuesdays for teens and adults. This will be a fun group activity you can do with your teen. Come in with your workout gear on and follow along to a workout DVD.

There are even more resources and events at the library for just about anything you might need help with. Visit their website for more info or just come in and their friendly staff will help you.

The Arroyo Seco Regional Library is open Monday to Thursday from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M., Friday and Saturday from 9:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., and Sunday from 1 to 5 P.M.
